The work behind the object

From a storage unit.
Through years of care.

Joseph discovered and acquired this Hall’s vault assembly in a storage unit. He organized its recovery and personally funded the forklift, truck and transport that brought the project into motion.

Over three years, he has financed, coordinated and sustained its restoration and continuing care. He found Tim Erickson, negotiated their collaboration and brought skilled contributors together. Joseph and Tim jointly found a specialist to address the missing molding.

Through G Benincasa Estética, Joseph continues to direct the assembly’s documentation, historical research and search for an appropriate next setting.

The architectural assembly

A threshold.
A presence.

The foliate arch frames a substantial outer leaf, with a vestibule and paired inner doors. Ornament, painted surfaces and mechanical detail give the assembly its character.

Restoration & stewardship

History,
carried forward.

Finding the piece was the beginning. Keeping the work moving is part of the restoration.

Recovery, funding, collaboration, documentation and a considered next use belong to the same story. This project gives physical form to the care at the heart of G Benincasa.

A living record / reviewed October 23, 2026

A history
still unfolding.

Restoration correspondence records completion in April 2026. The photographs show Hall’s Safe & Lock Co. maker lettering and the assembly’s ornamental and mechanical features.

The exact manufacturing date, model and original installation remain under investigation. Archival leads are being tested against this individual assembly; a lead becomes part of its provenance when the connection can be supported.

Additional information is steadily being found, verified and updated. Confirmed findings will be incorporated with their sources and their relevance to this piece.

Acquisition and representation inquiries are welcome.

Share your intended setting, project location and timing. The conversation can then address the offered components, current condition, dimensions, inspection and the terms of a potential acquisition.

Vault viewings are arranged separately with Joseph.

An inquiry begins a conversation. Price, condition, included components and handover arrangements are confirmed before any agreement.
